The first time oil topped $60 US per barrel in the summer of 2005, it was like a spark had ignited the Alberta economy. Albertans were looking to the future with the hope of another boom, complete with tax cuts, wage hikes and big Stampede parties. Fast-forward 13 years and it’s a different story.
