This ruby is 2.5 billion years old and contains evidence of ancient life

A researcher at Ontario's University of Waterloo was part of an international team that discovered carbon residue that was once ancient life encased in a 2.5 billion-year-old ruby — the first time evidence of life was found in a gemstone.
